In Renfe’s metre-gauge network runs mainly along the Cantabrian coast and in the north-west of the Iberian Peninsula. It is the successor to the historic narrow-gauge railways and is adapted to complex terrain, with winding alignments, steep gradients and stations that vary greatly in size and equipment.this context, Alhambra ISS is deployed on lines in Biscay, Cantabria, Castile and León, and Galicia, where it manages operations in very different environments: suburban services, regional services, mixed-traffic lines and rural stops with low passenger demand. The system combines digital public address and visual devices, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure and robust integration with traffic and control systems.
Building on this foundation, Alhambra ISS unifies passenger information, intercom and visual information in stations, enabling the coordination of audio and graphical messages in real time. Operators can issue general or targeted announcements by line, section or station, manage incidents and communicate service disruptions consistently across all channels, including multilingual messages (Spanish and co-official regional languages) tailored to each territory.
- Heterogeneous operating environment: urban commuter services, regional services and rural stops within a single narrow-gauge network.
- Integration with traffic and control systems to feed real-time messages to stations.
- Unified management that reduces operational complexity and facilitates day-to-day operations.
- Over 1,000 km of managed network.
