The Montserrat rack railway is the rack line that links Monistrol de Montserrat station with the monastery, overcoming more than 550 m of elevation gain in just 5 km of route. Operated by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC), it combines conventional adhesion and Abt rack sections, 1.5 kV DC electrification and low-floor panoramic trains, providing a sustainable and accessible service throughout the year to one of Catalonia’s most emblematic destinations.
Alhambra ISS is responsible for the centralized management of passenger information, integrating FGC operational data and distributing it in real time to stations. The system coordinates multilingual visual and audio messages tailored to the tourist profile of the line, ensuring consistent information on timetables, stops, connections and service notices throughout the entire journey.
